self measurement guide

Before you begin:

  • Tie a thin ribbon around your waist. To identify where the correct waist is, naturally rest your hand on your waist. It is usually the smallest part of your torso. The ribbon will be used as the anchor point for all the vertical measurements so make sure it sits comfortably, but does not move positions. The bottom edge of the ribbon should sit at the exact waist.
  • Please take all measurements in CENTIMETERS to ensure a more accurate fit.

Step 1: Circumferential Measurements

  • All circumferential measurements should be taken around the body in centimeters, as close to the body as possible. There should be no ease added to the measurement, so DO NOT put your fingers inside the measuring tape. Make sure there is no tension into the skin so don’t pull the measuring tape too tight!

Above Bust: Measure the circumference around the area right beforeyour bust begins to slope

Bust: Measure the circumference around the widest part of the bust area.

Underbust: Measure the circumference around the buttom of the bust. This is where your bra base it.

Waist: Measure the circumference around the smallest part of the torso, or where your hands naturally rest. This should be where your ribbon is tied.

First Hip: Measure 6 cm down from the ribbon of the waist: this is the first hip. Measure the circumference around this.

Second Hip: Measure 12 cm down from the ribbon of the waist: this is the second hip. Measure the circumference around this.

Step 2: Point to Point Measurements

Front Figure: Measure from the top of the shoulder to the bottom of the waist ribbon

Bust Point: Measure from the top of the shoulder to the tip of the bust (Where the nipple would be)

Bust Distance: Measure the distance between each of the bust points (nipple to nipple).

Shoulder: Measure the distance between the shoulder bones, before the arms. Measurement should be taken from the back of the body.

Back Figure: Measure the distance from the nape (where the bone is) up to the bottom of the waist ribbon.

Side Seam: Measure the distance from the armpit (starting point should be exactly where the arm folds onto the bodice) to the bottom of the waist ribbon.
